The incredible 12-mile walk between two quiet UK seaside towns | Travel News | Travel

The walk starts with a steep incline, the steepest of the entire hike, which is manageable for people of average fitness.

Once up, the views are breath-taking, with the summit serving as the first of many ideal locations for a photo or selfie.

From there, the landscape is rolling, with flower-laden trails and green grass lining the way into Cuckmere Haven.

The idyllic beach is quintessentially British. Once used as a backdrop in the film Atonement, it can be used as a lunch setting or prominent landmark for those wanting to head back and shorten the route.

A steep but shorter climb than completed in Seaford takes you back up onto the cliffs, with nothing but miles of mesmerizing scenery and British wildlife in between you and Eastbourne, where an abundance of fish and chip restaurants and ice cream stands await to reward hike finishers.

While the cliffs are beautiful and offer a perfect photo back drop, it must not be forgotten that they are ultimately extremely dangerous.

Cliff collapses are relatively common across Britain and can come with little to no warning.

Last week, East Devon district council warned visitors to take extra care around its cliffs after a huge landslide occurred.

They said: ““Rockfalls and landslides are unpredictable events, occurring without warning, and can cause serious injury or death.

“You should always take care around the cliffs of East Devon as all are made of soft rock and pose a cliff-fall danger.”
