Valentine’s Day is just around the corner with many looking to find a romantic spot to celebrate with their other half.
But avoiding busy restaurants and Valentine’s clichés is high on the priority list for many.
If you’re hoping to get away to somewhere more romantic and without the crowds, Iceland could make the perfect break.
According to The Telegraph, Diamond Beach in Iceland is the most romantic spot in Europe and second most romantic in the world.
Located in southern Iceland, the dark black sand beaches make a fascinating place to visit.
Huge blocks of ice wash ashore from the Jökulsárlón Glacier Lagoon and glimmer in the sun.
You can even take a boat tour weaving through icebergs to the mouth of the glacier.
It will certainly be a memorable and special experience to spend with the person you love.
One visitor on Tripadvisor who visited the beach said: “This is one of the more famous sights in Iceland.
“The black sand and the giant pieces of ices that look like diamonds make this place quite special.
“You can walk around the beach and enjoy the view out to the water as well as the ice blocks. Worth a stop here.”
Another penned: “The beach was cold, windy but beautiful. The black sand made the pieces of glacier shine in the sunshine.
“One of the most beautiful places I have ever seen. We had a piece of ice for our drinks later in the evening. It was displayed on our hotel bar.”
To get to the beach, you’ll need to get to the foot of the Vatnajökull Glacier and National Park.
You can travel from Reykjavik to Diamond Beach, which is around 233 miles away. Driving will take around four and a half to five hours.
