Where to go on holiday: Foreign Office map shows safest places to travel right now | Travel News | Travel

Travel safety warnings have been shared by the Foreign, Commonwealth and Development Office (FDCO) amid the growing conflict in the Middle East and we have turned that data in to an interactive map. The Foreign Office details which countries are safe for Brits to travel to and which countries they should avoid, including countries where certain parts are no-go zones. UK citizens who travel to places against FDCO advice may have their travel insurance invalidated, they have warned.

This comes amid escalated conflict between Israel and Iran as well as the ongoing situation between Israel and Palestine. The Foreign Office now warns Brits about travelling to a total of more than 70 countries around the world. A warning has been issued against “all travel to Israel and the Occupied Palestinian Territories”. Additionally, the FDCO describes the current status in the Middle East as a “fast-moving situation that poses significant risks”. A map shows which countries Brits have been advised not to travel to and which ones are the safest, such as the United States, Spain and China.

Israel and the Occupied Palestinian Territories have now been added to the existing list of nine nations which UK travellers are advised against visiting under any circumstances.

Other countries on this list include Iran, Yemen, Syria and Afghanistan in the Middle East as well as Belarus and Russia. The Foreign Office also advises against all travel to most of Ukraine but the warning for some parts of the country are for “all but essential” travel.

Brits are also warned against all travel to South Sudan and Haiti because of violent security situations there. The Foreign Office’s travel warnings were updated on June 16 with UK citizens in Israel told to register their presence with the UK government.

In total, there are 41 countries around the world where Brits are advised against all travel to specific regions. Included on this list are popular holiday destinations for Brits such as Turkey and Egypt as well as India, Iraq, Pakistan and Tunisia.
