Prince William ‘upset’ as he makes huge decision on Prince Harry -‘It’s sad’ | Royal | News
Prince William will not allow his niece and nephew, Archie and Lillibet, to use HRH titles when he becomes king, insiders have claimed. Despite Prince Harry and Meghan Markle reportedly floating the idea of the door being kept open for their children to become part of the family when they’re older, William is set against the idea, according to royal sources. The refusal to admit his brother’s family back into the fold comes after the Prince of Wales adopted a new approach to dealing with Harry, who isn’t thought to have been on speaking terms with William or King Charles for several years.
“What struck me the most recently is that he just doesn’t mention [the feud] at all,” one insider told The Times. “It used to be that the family stuff was taking up a lot of space in his head – it was a very close relationship, and he was very upset. But he’s not letting it get to him at all anymore. It is a change. It’s sad, but it’s a much healthier space for him to be at.”
Harry and Meghan stepped down as working royals in 2020, before relocating to the US with Archie, now 6, and Lilibet, now 4.
Tensions between Harry, William and Charles – who tried in vain to convince him not to give up his royal role – were further strained when the dad-of-two released a tell-all memoir in 2023, levelling accusations against his family and airing their dirty laundry.
The news that William wouldn’t allow Archie and Lilibet to use their titles comes after the prince vowed to be “royal with a small r” upon his ascent to the throne last year.
The 43-year-old future king said he wanted to carry out his duties “differently” from his predecessors and shared that he thought there was a shortage of “empathetic leaders” in the world.
Harry has been open about his desire to make amends with his father and brother, despite reportedly receiving little indication that such a reunion is possible.
In a bombshell interview with the BBC last month, he said Charles wasn’t speaking to him because of a court case over his family’s security arrangements in the UK that he lost in May.
“Life is precious,” he told the broadcaster. “I don’t know how much longer my father has; he won’t speak to me because of this security stuff. It would be nice to reconcile.”
