An “inspiring” Disney film that fans have watched over a “hundred times” is now available to stream for free.

Moana, first released in 2016, tells the tale of Moana who embarks on a mission to save her people, meeting demigod Maui along the way.

Since its release, the film has captivated audiences of all ages with its “breath-taking animation” and “powerful journey”. Auliʻi Cravalho made her acting debut as the voice of Moana, with Dwayne Johnson lending his voice to Maui.

The film also features Rachel House, Temuera Morrison, Jemaine Clement and Nicole Scherzinger. While Moana is currently streaming on Disney Plus, fans can now enjoy this beloved animation on BBC iPlayer today (June 29).

With a near perfect score of 95% on Rotten Tomatoes, fans says they have watched the film over “a hundred time”. One fan penned: “Genuinely amazing. Several years later and it is still one of the best movies Disney has ever produced.”, reports Surrey Live.

Another commented: “Moana is a strong four-star animated adventure that I really enjoyed. With its breathtaking animation, inspiring protagonist, and unforgettable music, it delivers a powerful and emotionally uplifting journey.”

A third wrote: “Had to see this movie after hearing the music on TikTok. I have to say, it was one of the best Disney movies I’ve seen in a very long time. I don’t know why I waited so long to watch it (other than being a 37 year old man and this is not my usual movie type).”

One fan said: “I thought this was fantastic. One of the best Disney blockbusters of this era, with great music, great story and characters, and wonderful visuals.”

Another added: “So good!! Watched this movie more than a hundred times!”

However, some viewers were unimpressed as one person said: “It’s not bad but I found it pretty forgettable, most of the movie was singing moments which really takes away from any cute or fun story they were trying to tell.”

Another echoed: “I couldn’t get into the movie. They had started running out of original ideas and putting out movies that were not original enough for Disney.”

Moana 2 made its debut in 2024, and is also available to stream on Disney Plus following the success of the first film.
