I won’t ever go back to Glastonbury again without this weekend-saving gadget

Glastonbury is over for another year, and if I manage to grab tickets again when it returns in 2027, I won’t be going back without a new gadget from the team at Ninja. I was lucky enough to make the trip to Pilton in Somerset at the weekend and along with packing all the usual essentials, I decided it was time to stop spending so much money on food and drink during the four-day music festival.

In previous years, I’ve popped a cheap cool bag in the tent along with a couple of ice packs – the result has been undrinkable warm beer and melted food by day two.

With those disasters in mind, I thought I’d try something more premium in 2025 and what a difference it made.

The Ninja FrostVault is basically a giant fridge on wheels.

There are three different sizes to choose from – including a whopping 61-litre version – with all featuring ice retention technology which is able to keep the temperature down for days when you aren’t near any power.

To see how well it coped, I packed it full of beverages, got my ticket out and headed to my camping spot.

Getting it cold doesn’t take long with a couple of bags of ice enough to start reducing the internal temperature.

Incredibly, despite it being very hot, I only needed to add one extra bag of ice during the whole weekend, and things were still cool when I got home.

The rugged design makes it perfect for all terrain, there’s a plug on the rear to empty the water, and it gets a lockable lid to keep those precious cans of IPA safe from falling out.

The fact that it kept my drinks icy for four days is a big selling point, but the FrostVault has another trick up its sleeve.

Tucked neatly under the main cooling box is a dry storage drawer. This compartment is perfect for things like butter, ham and other delicacies such as cheese and eggs.

Waking up in the morning and cooking a tasty breakfast is all part of the camping fun, and I had no issues keeping all of the perishables nicely chilled.

Thanks to all the ice that sits above the drawer, everything stays at the perfect temperature without getting wet and soggy.

Of course, like all good things, the FrostVault does come at a cost.

The smaller 30L version costs £249.99, with that price rising to £349.99 for the huge 60L model.

This is also not a small cool box. Even the more compact 30L FrostVault is pretty big and will take up a fair amount of tent space. You also need to think about where you will store it during those long winter months, when picnics are off the menu.

If you aren’t worried by the price and want a larger cooler, then the FrostVault really does exactly what it says on the tin.

Yes, you can buy an ice box on Amazon for £20 and there are other premium coolers from firms such as Yeti.

However, Ninja has done an excellent job on this gadget, and I highly recommend it for anyone heading to a festival or a summer camping trip. The fact that it stops the ice from melting and has that neat cold drawer are major selling points.

It’s certainly not cheap, and some might find it way too big. If that doesn’t concern you, it will definitely save you a small fortune on festival food and drink bills.

I certainly won’t be heading away again without it.
