A fourth body has been found at the foot of cliffs near Whitby. The discovery of the woman’s body at Sandsend, Yorkshire, comes after a man and two more women were found in the same area.

The body of the woman found on Saturday (August 2) was recovered from below cliffs behind a carpark, according to Yorkshire Live. Police said her family has been notified and is being supported by specialist officers.

According to Yorkshire Live, the woman was in her 50s and seen by a member of the public, who called the emergency services.

The death comes after a man and woman, believed to be in their 40s, were found dead at cliffs in Whitby on July 30.

Another woman, aged in her 60s, was found by cliffs near a pavillion a day later.

Police said they are investigating the latest death, but it is not being treated as suspicious.

The deaths are not linked in any way, according to police.

A police spokesperson said of the body found on Saturday that members of the police, ambulance, coastguard, lifeboat and fire services attended.

They added: “The woman’s body was recovered at 12.55pm and the scene was reopened at 2.15pm following extensive enquiries.

“It has been confirmed that the woman is aged in her 50s and from the local area.”

The spokesperson said: “Officers are supporting the woman’s family at this difficult time. The death is not being treated as suspicious and a report is being prepared for the coroner.”
