Incredible country 5 hours from UK and 24C in December named best holiday | Travel News | Travel

A travel expert has named her go-to travel destination for 2026, listing three reasons why tourists will gravitate towards it. Travel trends are constantly evolving, with tourists increasingly seeking unique and Instagram-worthy experiences as foreign holidays become more accessible. While classic choices like Spain and Greece remain popular among Brits, some are seeking alternative destinations to visit as anti-tourism protests take place in visitor hotspots like Barcelona and Tenerife.

One travel expert has weighed in and listed three reasons why one country should be on your radar. It is located only five hours from the UK by plane, and is home to some of the most famous sites in the world. While it is a centre of world history and culture, there are also amazing resorts here where you can unwind and enjoy some stunning weather. If you haven’t guessed yet, the country in question is Egypt.

Apart from the massive new museum, an exciting natural event is scheduled to happen in Egypt over the next couple of years. On August 2, 2027, a rare total solar eclipse will occur, and Egypt is one of the places where it will be most visible.

Clare said: “It will be the longest total solar eclipse of the century that is visible from land, and we’re seeing increased demand for our Egypt tours around this time.”

Additionally, the 50th anniversary of the death of Agatha Christie is expected to draw people to Egypt, as Death on the Nile is one of the British author’s most iconic works. “Her time spent travelling around Egypt inspired some of her most famous work and led to her having a significant literary connection to the country,” Clare said.

“For those familiar with her work, 2026 is the ideal time to retrace her footsteps along the Nile by visiting Aswan and enjoying a river cruise.”

If you are considering when to visit Egypt, there are specific periods that will make for the best trip. If you want to visit in December, you can still expect temperatures as high as 24C even as the UK dips well below freezing.

Clare recommends visiting between October and April when daytime temperatures are comfortable for tourists. In the summer months, temperatures in Egypt can reach as high as 40C, which doesn’t make for great conditions for exploring what the country has to offer.

If you want to experience the country’s beaches, then Clare said the best times to go are between March and May, and September and November.
