Prime Video fans have just days to watch a laugh-out-loud comedy that “you’ll never forget”.
2013 rom-com, I Give It a Year, stars Trying’s Rafe Spall and Bridesmaids actress Rose Byrne and tackles the myths surrounding the first year of marriage.
Written and directed by Borat screenwriter Dan Mazer, the movie follows a pair of newlyweds struggling through their first year of marriage, as alternatives present themselves in the shape of an old flame and an attractive American work client.
After a seven-month long passion-filled courtship, Londoners Natasha and Josh (played by Rose and Rafe) get married, despite their mismatched personalities and temperaments.
Nine months into their marriage, Nat and Josh have their first session with an unconventional marriage counsellor, played by Olivia Colman, who helps them decide whether they should continue with their relationship.
The couple’s issues are then shown through various flashbacks, including tension with their in-laws and small idiosyncrasies that they each find frustrating.
But what may be their biggest threat to a happily ever after is the temptations of those around them. For Nat, it’s her US client Guy (Simon Baker), and for Josh, it’s his old flame Chloe (Anna Faris), who recently re-entered his life after four years working in Africa.
The film’s stacked cast also includes Stephen Merchant, Minnie Driver, Jane Asher, and Daisy Haggard.
Prime Video viewers haven’t got long to watch the comedy, as it is set to leave the streaming platform next Saturday (November 29).
Viewers have continued to share their praise for the film online, with one person writing on IMDb: “British humour at its best. It’s simply a funny loving film, perfect for Xmas, Love Actually kind of vibe but more quirky.”
Another added: “An entertaining watch, and a lucky find. Films which have you both cooing and laughing hysterically are quite rare.”
A third said: “I really enjoyed this movie! It’s a laugh-out-loud rom-com which is genuinely unconventional. It’s awkward in all the right places. You’ll never forget it.”
A fourth fan echoed the sentiment, saying: “This was just a breath of fresh air. Great take on the traditional British rom-com but with more spice. Think Four Weddings and a Funeral with a huge dose of irony. It’s pure genius.”
I Give It a Year leaves Prime Video on Saturday, November 29
