Amazon beats Argos with a huge Garmin discount for Black Friday
Black Friday could be the perfect time to shop for a new fitness watch with discounts abound at several retailers. Garmin devices should be at the top of your list if it’s a GPS running watch you need, and we’ve found a deal over at Amazon for a price even cheaper than retail rival Argos.
Right now you can pick up the Garmin Forerunner 55 for £115.90, a huge 36 percent discount on the GPS running smartwatch’s £179.99 RRP. That beats the £149.99 asking price for the same watch over at Argos.
That watch at Argos is a subtler black than the more eye-catching Aqua version for the low price at Amazon – but Amazon actually manages to outdo Argos with the Black Friday sale price on the black version too, which comes in at £123.55.
The Forerunner 55 is likely this cheap in the Black Friday sales as it is four years into its life having been released back in 2021. It’s one of Garmin’s entry-level fitness watches, but will be more than capable of tracking the exercise of beginner and experienced runners alike thanks to its accurate GPS and several sports modes – this can track more sports than just running.
Thanks to advanced software, wearing the watch 24/7 builds up a picture of your exercise and habits, with the watch able to suggest workouts based on how ready it thinks you are to tackle them.
It even offers 5K, 10K and half marathon training plans based on your set goals within the Garmin Connect app.

The Forerunner 55 also wipes the floor with any Apple Watch when it comes to battery life, rated for up to 14 days – though this becomes less once you use it to track runs and other activities using the GPS function. It’ll still go for days though, which lets you wear the device at night to track the quality of your sleep.
Round the clock heart rate tracking is also incredibly useful, allowing the Garmin app to give you a complete picture of your health and habits.
Link the Forerunner 55 to other fitness platforms such as Strava, and the two will talk to each other and automatically upload your runs to Strava as soon as your watch syncs with your phone – and yes, the Garmin works with any iPhone or Android phone.
For less than £120, this Amazon deal is a great way to get into serious running tracking with a Garmin watch that packs a punch.
