Tragedy as man dies at Asda branch in England | UK | News

A man died in an Asda branch on Monday afternoon, just three days before Christmas. The man suffered a “serious medical incident”, police said in a statement.

The incident happened at a branch in West End, a parish just five miles from the city of Southampton. It involved a man in his 50s, police said. Police officers and paramedics attended the scene at about 2.30pm on December 22.

A police spokesperson said: “We were called at 2.32pm on December 22 to support the ambulance service dealing with a serious medical incident involving a man in his 50s at ASDA in West End.

“Despite the efforts of emergency services, the man was sadly pronounced dead.”

His next of kin, police also said, have been made aware.

The death of the man, the force added, is not being treated as suspicious.

This comes just a month after a man in his 30s died in an Asda car park stairwell following an incident.

The man was sadly pronounced dead at the scene.

A West Mercia Police spokesperson said: “We received a call around 1:50pm this afternoon following the concern for the welfare of a man within the stairwell of the car park off Silver Street in Worcester. Despite the best efforts of emergency workers, the man in his 30s was pronounced deceased.”
