Spider-Man Across the Spider-Verse is premiering on BBC One this afternoon, two years after the sequel to Into the Spider-Verse hit cinemas.
The second film in the trilogy ended on a serious cliffhanger with Miles Morales realising he’s not back on his native Earth-1610, but is on Earth-42, where his variant is the Prowler.
Meanwhile, Earth-1610’s New York is being attacked by the Spot, as Gwen teams up with Peter B Parker and the other Spider-Man variants.
Initially, Part 2 of this storyline was supposed to hit cinemas a year later in March 2024.
However, Spider-Man Beyond the Spider-Verse has undergone significant changes, even before the 2023 SAG-AFTRA strike. Delayed multiple times, the third and final film in the trilogy is now scheduled to hit cinemas on June 18, 2027; a significant four-year gap between parts 1 and 2. Meanwhile, Spider-Woman and Spider-Punk spin-offs are in the works.
