Is Travis Scott in The Odyssey? | Films | Entertainment
The Odyssey is coming to cinemas in the summer of 2026 and the action film is an adaptation of Homer’s ancient Greek epic, The Odyssey. The film stars Matt Damon as Odysseus, the Greek king of Ithaca, and follows his perilous journey home after the Trojan War as he attempts to reunite with his wife, Penelope (Anne Hathaway).
The star-studded film, which already has fans talking over its initial trailer, includes a stellar ensemble cast, including Tom Holland, Robert Pattinson and Zendaya. After the trailer was released, eagle-eyed fans spotted another familiar yet unlikely face.
Grammy-nominated rapper Travis Scott featured in a clip shown during a recent AFC Championship game and his involvement in the film had not been announced prior to the teaser. Viewers were in for a surprise as Scott was heard narrating scenes depicting the Trojan War.
He is heard saying: “A war, a man, a trick — a trick to break the walls of Troy. It burning, screaming to the ground.” The trailer showcased Damon and Holland in their roles, with Holland sharing a scene alongside the 34-year-old rapper.
The clip has not been officially released by Universal, but it has already drawn plenty of attention due to its impressive cast.
The film, produced by Nolan and his wife Emma Thomas, is scheduled for release in cinemas on July 17. Nolan had been working on the project since 2024 and with an estimated budget of $250 million (£186million), the film is the most expensive of Nolan’s career.
DiscussingFilm shared a first look at Scott in the film on X, formerly Twitter, and thousands of fans expressed their thoughts at the reveal. While some were excited to see the star, others were confused about the casting.
Gee commented: “Why would Travis Scott ever need to be in The Odyssey?” CNeezy added: “If Scott is actually in it? I’m out. Stop throwing rappers into movies.”
JetVega added: “I am preparing myself for the worst Christopher Nolan film of all time.” However, The Prime Position shared: “Nolan collaborating with modern culture icons is smart, bridges prestige cinema with a new generation.”
PbCuFe commented: “I’m really looking forward to this movie.” Ksana added: “Okay, someone tell me I’m not the only one obsessing over this first look.”
Scott, born Jacques Bermon Webster II, has had five number-one hits along with 10 Grammy Award nominations. From Houston, Texas, his father is a soul musician and he has always had music in his blood.
During high school, he participated in musical theatre and attended the University of Texas at San Antonio, before dropping out in his second year to fully pursue his music career.
The Odyssey is not the star’s only film, as he has previously starred in Gully and Aggro Dr1ft. The Odyssey was filmed across the globe including Morocco, Greece, Italy, Scotland, Iceland, and the Western Sahara.
The Odyssey is scheduled for release on July 17
