Michael Schumacher’s wife Corinna only allows three people outside the family to visit the F1 legend at his home in Switzerland or his luxury mansion in Majorca. The seven-time world champion has not been seen in public since he was seriously injured in a life-changing ski accident 12 years ago. He suffered a traumatic brain injury and was airlifted to a hospital where he spent six months in a medically induced coma.
Very few details have been released in the following years, with Schumacher’s fiercely protective wife and family keeping things under wraps. However, there was a big update last week when it was revealed that he was not bedridden, contrary to widespread assumption. It’s claimed that Schumacher is able to move around his house, but only in a wheelchair with the assistance of a team of doctors, therapists and nurses.
It’s also been suggested that only three people outside Schumacher’s closest family are allowed into his Majorca residence. According to the Daily Mail, former Ferrari team principal Jean Todt is one of them.
A year ago, Todt revealed that he still sees his former Ferrari colleague on a regular basis, but declined to provide further details about Schumacher’s condition out of respect for his family.
He said: “The family has decided not to answer the question, a choice that I respect. I see him regularly and with affection, him and his family. Our bond goes beyond the past work. It is part of my life which today is very far from Formula One.”
Ross Brawn, the legendary technical director who worked with Ferrari at the height of Schumacher’s dominance, is also allowed to visit, as is former driver Gerhard Berger.
Although it was revealed that Schumacher isn’t confined to his bed, it remains unclear if he understands what is going on around him despite being conscious.

An anonymous source was quoted as saying: “You can’t be sure whether he understands everything because he cannot tell anyone. The feeling is that he understands some of the things going on around him, but probably not all of them.”
Despite the recent revelations, the vast majority of information about Schumacher’s condition remains unknown to the public.
Richard Hopkins, a former F1 mechanic who regularly had coffee with Schumacher in the paddock, recently told Express Sport: “We can only imagine that not a lot is being said because there’s maybe not a lot to say.
“We’re not seeing him because maybe the family don’t want him to be seen in the condition he’s in. That obviously generates your own ideas and images, and I think we all probably have a similar idea of the state that he’s in.
“We’re probably not too far off the mark in our assumptions of where he’s at right now. I haven’t really spoken to anybody closer to that inner circle about what I think, but I think we all think the same.
“Of course it’s a little bit frustrating that we’re kept in the dark, but I don’t think we’re that in the dark. I think our own assumptions are fairly accurate about where he’s at right now.”
