Tommy Fleetwood taunted by LIV Golf star after Nike split | Golf | Sport
Tommy Fleetwood’s clothing selections have provided an entertaining subplot during the first couple of weeks this season following his departure from Nike. The reigning FedEx Cup champion remains a crowd favourite on the PGA Tour and represents an attractive prospect for apparel companies after his lengthy partnership with the swoosh concluded at the turn of the year.
Rather than swiftly inking a fresh agreement with another brand following his Nike exit, Fleetwood has chosen to wear his own clothing, sporting various labels including Lululemon and Vuori. The 35-year-old has also donned Masters-branded kit this season, and paid a visit to Pebble Beach’s pro shop last week, wearing the venue’s merchandise throughout the competition.
Prior to this week’s Genesis Invitational at Riviera Country Club in Los Angeles, Fleetwood was seen wearing Malbon apparel during a practice round. According to Golf Digest, the clothing was loaned to him by Malbon ambassador Jason Day.
LIV Golf star Ben An, who switched to the breakaway league from the PGA Tour in the off-season, commented on Fleetwood’s sartorial decisions, playfully suggesting Fleetwood could wear the kit of his LIV team, Korean Golf Club.
“Looks like Tommy Fleetwood is a free agent on clothing. Let me know if you want some Korean Golf Club clothes,” An posted on social media. “Happy to send you some. Relax, people, it’s a joke… maybe.”
Fleetwood, who has been playing some of the best golf of his career over the past year, currently sits at No.3 in the world rankings after clinching the Tour Championship in August. Undoubtedly, he’s received a plethora of enticing offers from brands eager for his endorsement, but Fleetwood is relishing his sartorial freedom.

“Our contract was ending and it just turned out like we, you know, sort of didn’t end up in a place where I’m wearing Nike stuff this year. Who knows what’s going to happen in the future?” he mused at Pebble Beach.
“But this is cool. I don’t know, like I feel like I’m a big golf fan. I really like golf stuff, so it’s quite nice to be wearing Pebble Beach clothing. I mean, my kids would absolutely love this stuff, so I feel pretty lucky to have it on.”
Fleetwood reveals that his wardrobe has expanded now that he’s not restricted to wearing Nike on the green.
“In general, my kids wear way more golf merchandise than me always because I haven’t been able to as well,” he admitted.
“But no, I do like it. I mean there’s some amazing logos around the world, and I also think they’re just like memorable pieces, right, when you come to a special place. My collection’s got a bit bigger, that’s for sure.”
