The pretty Spanish city with £30 UK return flights in March | Europe | Travel

With cold and rainy weather refusing to budge any time soon, a weekend getaway is sure to cure all winter blues. One pretty Spanish city now has £30 return flights in March if UK tourists fly from one London airport.

London Stansted Airport now has £15 flights to and from Valencia, a Spanish city on the eastern coast of Spain. Airlines like Ryanair and EasyJet are offering affordable journeys to the city, just a couple hours away. Despite the proximity, Valencia offers significantly warmer temperatures with highs of 20 degrees in March.

Other cheap deals include £35 return flights from Birmingham and £40 return flights from London Gatwick Airport. Return flights from Manchester airport start around £42 and Edinburgh return flights start at £51, with one-way flights from £26.

As the third largest city in Spain, Valencia offers tourists a multitude of activities. The city features iconic spots like the City of Arts and Sciences museum and the Valencia Cathedral and is home to a number of hotels and staycation spots.

Valencia also offers all the ideals for a weekend getaway. From bustling high street shops to relaxing beach activities, the city allows tourists of all ages to relax without getting bored.

March is also one of the most exciting months to visit Valencia, with Las Fallas running for the majority of the month.

The festival includes the building of massive monuments around the city and regular firework displays.

While the city offers a variety of rooftop bars and nightclubs all year round, locals truly come alive during the nights of March. During the Fallas period, visitors can attend street parties and ‘discomóviles’, otherwise known as mobile discos, which feature high-energy music, nights and dancing in the street.

While public consumption of alcohol is not usually permitted in the streets of Valencia, the ban is generally lifted during Las Fallas.

As well as classic tapas and sangria, tourists can enjoy Valencia’s famous Agua de Valencia, an alcoholic drink made up of cava, gin, vodka and Valencia’s sweet orange juice.

Other traditional dishes include horchata and fartons, a quintessential, traditional pairing in Valencia. Horchata, or orxata, is a cold, creamy drink made from tiger nuts, sugar, and water, and is often paired with fartons – a long, light and sweet sponge pastry, specifically designed for dipping.
