Manchester United must bide their time until Monday evening for their return to Premier League action. After enjoying a respite last weekend during the FA Cup’s action, United are now setting their sights on their forthcoming fixture, which involves a trip to Merseyside to confront Everton.
Unbeaten Michael Carrick has claimed victory in four out of his five matches since being appointed as United’s temporary head coach for the remainder of the season. Nonetheless, Carrick’s most recent match resulted in United having to accept a draw away to West Ham, but they remain in fourth position in the Premier League and hold their fate in their own hands in the battle for Champions League qualification.
United will travel to face an Everton side managed by David Moyes, marking another encounter with their former manager. Carrick will have some United players unavailable for the showdown against Everton and recently provided an update ahead of the visit to Hill Dickinson Stadium.

Patrick Dorgu is currently out with a hamstring injury that he sustained back in January. The Danish international is expected to be out of action for several months.
“Pat, unfortunately, he’s gonna be out for a period of time,” Carrick said on January 30. “We’re still working through how long that’s going to be, so we’ll have to see. He’s disappointed, he’s had such a big couple of weeks.

“We weren’t sure whether it was a little bit of cramp or something a little bit more serious and at the moment it looks a little bit more on the serious note so it’ll be a few weeks for that, how many weeks we’ll have to wait and see.
“That’s disappointing for all of us, really. Pat was in such a good place, but unfortunately, it’s football, and it’s something we’ve got to work through and get him back as soon as we can.”
Potential return date: March/April
Mason Mount has been absent from United’s previous three fixtures due to an injury sustained during training earlier this month. Carrick has already confirmed that he doesn’t anticipate Mount being available for selection against Everton in United’s upcoming fixture.
“Mason [Mount] is getting closer, we have to be patient with him,” Carrick said on Friday. “We don’t want to rush anything, he is getting closer.
Potential return date: March 1 – Crystal Palace (H)
Matthijs de Ligt remains sidelined whilst recovering from a back problem that has ruled him out since November. De Ligt is understood to be edging towards a comeback to the matchday squad, though Carrick has confirmed the defender isn’t yet prepared to feature for United.
“De Ligt is working towards it, he is a little bit behind Mason [Mount],” Carrick stated this week.
Potential return date: March 4 – Newcastle (A)
