Drivers on a major motorway faced huge delays on Wednesday morning after a crash prompted the closure of two out of four lanes. The M1 southbound between junction 13 in Milton Keynes and junction 12 was partially shut, with motorists facing eight-mile congestion and 60-minute delays. The lanes were later reopened by around 9am.

National Highways said this morning: “On the M1 southbound between J13 MiltonKeynes and J12, the 2 outside lanes (of 4 lanes) are closed due to a collision.Bedfordshire Fire and rescue are at scene. Delays of 60 minutes on the approach, 8 miles of congestion on the approach.”
