A heroic driver stepped in to stop a teenage girl from being kidnapped after she got off a bus. The actions of the driver have been praised by police, who are now urging her to come forward. A 33-year-old man has been arrested in what police are treating as an attempted abduction of an 18-year-old woman in Pontrennau, Cardiff, on Saturday.

South Wales Police said that at around 6:30pm, someone tried to follow the young woman off the bus at the junction of Clos Nant Mwlan and Heol Pontprennau. The man was arrested within a few hours of the incident being reported to the authorities.

The brave female motorist who intervened was driving a black car. She stopped and helped the young woman with the police now hoping the driver will contact the police as an investigation remains underway.

Detective Inspector Laura Parsons said: “Incidents such as this one are extremely rare, and I would like to reassure people that we have arrested a suspect who is in police custody.

“I would like to praise the woman who stopped her car to intervene. It’s really important that we identify who she is so she is urged to get in touch.”
