Fortnite update 39.51 release date, server downtime and new content | Gaming | Entertainment
There’s good and bad news for Fortnite fans, as Epic Games gets ready to release one final update of the current season.
The next Fortnite update will bring OG Classics to Battle Royale, as well as an additional crossover with Rick and Morty.
The bad news, however, is that Fortnite developer Epic Games will take the game offline for server maintenance.
Here’s everything you need to know about Fortnite update 39.51 on PlayStation, Xbox, PC, Nintendo Switch and mobile.
Fortnite update 39.51 has a March 5 release date on all platforms. The update will be available to download from 9am GMT UK time, although you won’t be able to enjoy the new content until server downtime comes to an end.
While Fortnite server downtime begins at 9am GMT, matchmaking will be disabled at 8.30am UK time. If you want a quick game before the game goes offline in full, then login before 8.30am.
According to the Fortnite server status page, downtime will last for around 90 minutes. This means the game will be back online at 10.30am GMT. That’s 2.30am PT / 5.30am ET if you live in the US, or 11.30am CET if you’re playing in Europe.
The news was announced by Epic Games on X, alongside a preview about what to expect.
“OG classics make their return to Battle Royale!” reads an Epic tweet. “Downtime for v39.51 begins at 4 AM ET (9 AM UTC) with matchmaking ending shortly beforehand.”
As you can see from the teaser above, the update is good news for Rick and Morty fans.
New skins will be available to purchase from the Item Shop, including Rick Prime, Pickle Rick and Mr. PB and Squanchy.
Speaking of crossovers, fans can expect a Disney’s Hoppers collaboration, while OG Classic Items will make a return to Battle Royale.
Fans will also be keen to learn more about the next season and a possible end of season event. This may include the return of The Foundation.
