Baseball-sized hail, ‘extremely dangerous’ tornado confirmed | US | News
A total of two hospitals and 19 schools are in the path of a massive, dangerous tornado currently bearing down on the US.
As per a Tornado Warning notice issued by the National Weather Service in Chicago, “a large and extremely dangerous tornado is confirmed on the ground over Kankakee, Illinois, moving east at 25 miles per hour”.
The National Weather service has declared a Particularly Dangerous Situation (PDS) Tornado Warning now in effect, which will remain in place until 7pm local time for residents in southeastern Kankakee County including Aroma Park.
Residents have been told to “take cover now” as baseball sized bits of hail pelts down across the region.
As well as a tornado warning, a severe thunderstorm warning has also been issued for the regions of Kankakee, Bourbonnais, and Bradley, Illinois. Hail in the surrounding storm could be the size of a large apple, and is deemed life-threatening.
