Manchester United are reportedly willing to sanction the departure of five players when the summer transfer window commences. The Red Devils are presently pursuing Champions League qualification following a campaign without European competition. Michael Carrick assumed interim control in January and has subsequently delivered six victories from his eight fixtures at the helm, a sequence of results which has propelled the club to third position in the Premier League standings.

United now find themselves well-placed to secure Champions League football, especially if England receives five qualification spots based on their UEFA coefficient this term. Irrespective of their final Premier League position this season, new information has surfaced regarding the Old Trafford decision-makers’ intentions for the summer transfer window.

According to The Sun, five players could depart United throughout the summer as the club seeks to generate revenue towards the £422million they remain liable for in transfer obligations.

Reports suggest that Mason Mount, Joshua Zirkzee, Rasmus Hojlund, Andre Onana and Manuel Ugarte could all leave United permanently this summer.

Hojlund and Onana are presently spending the season on loan elsewhere from United, and appear increasingly set to complete permanent moves away from the Red Devils in the summer.

United dispatched Hojlund to Napoli on loan with an obligation to purchase included, and the Italian club’s sporting director Giovanni Manna has verified the striker will be acquired permanently.

Manna stated: “There are no doubts. Rasmus Hojlund will stay here. We have an obligation to buy from Man Utd, if Napoli qualify for Champions League, but he is in our plans despite this condition.”

Onana is currently on loan at Trabzonspor, though uncertainty remains regarding whether the Turkish outfit will complete a permanent transfer for the goalkeeper.

Trabzonspor vice-president Zeyyat Kafkas provided an update concerning Onana’s prospects earlier this month.

“As the figure from Manchester United for the purchase of Andre Onana is in the range of €45-50m, our president has sincerely informed the community in line with Trabzonspor’s realities,” Kafkas told Gunebakıs.

“I don’t think this information affected Onana at all. Because Onana’s thinking is that if it’s not England, he wants to continue at a club in Europe.

“His family thinks the same way. The president also wanted to explain Trabzonspor’s reality. However, if the conditions change, the situation changes.”

Zirkzee has found consistent playing opportunities elusive at United since Ruben Amorim’s appointment as head coach in November 2024, a pattern which has persisted following Carrick’s installation as interim manager.

Mount has been afforded consistent playing time for United during periods of this campaign, though he has been absent from the previous six Premier League fixtures through injury.

Ugarte, by contrast, has been named in the starting XI for merely seven top-flight fixtures for United this term and his long-term prospects remain unclear.
