Lloyds Bank closing 8 branches in May – full list | UK | News

Lloyds Bank will close eight branches across the UK in May as part of the banking group’s closure campaign. At least 168 Lloyds Banking Group branches are set to close in 2026 and 2027, following the Group’s announcement on February 11 that an additional 95 branches would shut across Lloyds, Halifax and Bank of Scotland.

Four of May’s eight doomed branches — Bournemouth, Redhill, London Streatham and London Victoria — were among this announcement. Customers in Croydon may be pleased to hear that while one branch is closing in May, it will relocate to the Centrale Shopping Centre. Lloyds blamed the closures on changing customer habits, with the majority now banking online.

A spokesperson said more than 21 million customers use Lloyds’ apps as their main way to bank.

They added: “Customers want the freedom to bank in the way that works for them and we offer more choice and ways to manage money than ever before.”

Critics said that bank closures will impact the most vulnerable, who have no access to internet banking, or who may not be able to travel further afield to other bank locations.

The Group said that customers can still access in-person banking services at any of its brands, including Halifax and Bank of Scotland. They will be able to deposit cash, make withdrawals and pay in cheques.

Customers can also use banking hubs, which are shared spaces run by the Post Office, where customers of multiple banks can deposit and withdraw cash, get face-to-face support and manage their accounts.

As of February, there were 214 hubs up and running around the UK, with 58 additional hubs recommended.

As part of Lloyd’s February announcement, 53 Lloyds, 31 Halifax and 11 Bank of Scotland sites were given a closing date, between May this year and March 2027.
