As thousands of Britons prepare to travel abroad for their Easter and then summer holidays, a YouTuber has given his verdict on the best economy seats to fly in. Mark Wolters, who hosts the Wolters World YouTube channel, has extensive experience flying around the world. In a video on his channel, he has spoken about what he thinks are the best seats to choose if you’re travelling in economy.
Mark explained that the video focused on the best economy seats for five different needs, including the best option overall. The first situation Mark dealt with was what seats to get if you’re tall. He said the best for legroom were the exit row seats. He explained: “Those exit rows are the best for legroom because the extra row needs to be wider for exits, so it’s kind of like business class legroom for economy prices.”

The second situation Mark addressed was the best economy seats for sleeping. These, he said, were window seats that weren’t near the toilet or the galley.
On these, he remarked: “In general the best place…is actually a window seat that is not near the galley or the lavatory because the galley, they’re working, you’ve got the smells, the cooking and the lights are there. And the lavatory because people are pooping there and it’s going to be smelly.”
The third situation Mark dealt with was when you have a tight connection — a short time between two connecting flights at an airport where it is crucial you get from the first flight to the next.
Mark said the best place in this scenario was an aisle seat near the front of economy, “because then you’re the first one up, you can grab your stuff and you can go”.
He added: “As long as you’re in front of the wings that’s going to be your best place to get out quicker.”

Meanwhile, Mark’s suggestion for the most comfortable seats in economy was those near the bulkhead of the aircraft.
He explained: “The bulkhead seats have a lot more legroom there, so it’s kind of like that exit row, but there’s nobody in front of you, you don’t have the weird door next to you, but you have that little bit of extra space.”
The fifth and final circumstance Mark dealt with was for those who don’t like turbulence and want to minimise how much of the bumpy air they feel when the aircraft encounters it.
He said: “If you want to avoid the turbulence you want to come more forward in the plane, bit more stable, maybe over the wing, in front of the wing, as far as you get forward, that’s going to be the best in economy.”
As for the best seat in economy overall, Mark said at the beginning of the video that it was one where no one is sitting next to you.
He said: “If you can get a seat that doesn’t have anybody next to you that would be the best seat in economy no matter where you are.”
