A man in his 30s has died after an altercation with two men outside the Home Bargains store in Blackburn. Police raced to Byrom Street at about 6.45pm on Friday (March 27), but he sadly passed away in hospital the following day on March 28.

A Home Office postmortem examination showed the cause of death was a head injury. Two men aged 43 and 44 from Blackburn were arrested yesterday afternoon on suspicion of murder and remain in custody at this time. The police are now appealing for any witnesses or anyone with information to come forward.

The force would expecially like to speak to people who were in the area between 4pm and 9.30pm on March 27.

Det Insp Pete Macdonald, of the Force Major Investigation Team, said: “First and foremost, my thoughts are with this man’s loved ones at this incredibly distressing time.

“Our investigation is very much in its early stages, but we have a dedicated team carrying out enquiries as we try to piece together what has happened.

“While we have made two arrests, our enquiries are very much ongoing, and we are asking for the public’s help.

“We know from the CCTV we have already examined that there are a number of vehicles and witnesses at Home Bargains at the time, so we would really like to speak to anyone who was in the area between 4pm and 9.30pm on Friday 27th March and who has dashcam footage or mobile footage or who may have been a witness to this incident to get in touch.”
