Horror trilogy that put genre on the map gets a new home and 50% discount | Gaming | Entertainment

If you can’t get enough Resident Evil following the recent release of Requiem, then you might want to pay a visit to Steam. Customers of the PC gaming platform can now grab original versions of the genre-definining Resident Evil trilogy from the PSOne. The newly launched Steam versions of Resident Evil, Resident Evil 2 and Resident Evil 3: Nemesis are currently available at a discounted price for a limited time.

Each game is currently available for just £3.99, representing a saving of 50% on the original £7.99 asking price.

For UK fans, the discount deal is available until 6pm BST on the afternoon of April 15, so hurry if you want to take advantage of the savings.

The Steam versions also come with one or two improvements over the original PSOne releases.

This includes multiple launguage support, new rendering options, improved timing of the cutscenes and multiple graphics options.

Despite the improvements, however, early adopters have complained about a lack of controller support and the addition of DRM compared to the GOG versions.

In addition to the Resident Evil trilogy, Capcom has also made RPG Breath of Fire IV available on Steam.

The fan-favourite role-playing game also contains multiple improvements, such as visual and rendering options, fixes and more.

According to the Steam reviews, it also appears to work on Steam Deck without any controller issues, although some fans recommend remapping buttons.

Breath of Fire IV also features a limited-time launch discount, costing £3.99 until April 15.
