With the Easter holidays now in full swing, children across the country will more than likely already be grumbling that they have nothing to do. If you’ve exhausted your supply of Easter crafts and baking ideas, there’s one deal that’s well worth your attention.

Merlin, which owns some of the UK’s biggest theme parks, has launched an offer they’ve described as: “Two days of fun for the price of one!” Rollercoaster fans who purchase a Twice the Fun ticket to Alton Towers Resort, Thorpe Park, LEGOLAND® Windsor Resort or Chessington World of Adventures Resort will also receive a complimentary second entry to another (or the same!) theme park of their choosing. That means an entirely free second theme park day to keep the little ones entertained for even longer.

To take advantage of this offer, theme park enthusiasts simply need to book their ticket before April 19 for visit dates up until May 15. Ensure you select the Twice The Fun ticket option to guarantee you can redeem the deal. Prices start from £32 for any individual over 90cm in height, and Easter holiday dates are eligible as part of the promotion. Those under 90cm can enter the parks free of charge.

Be sure to hold on to your original ticket, as you’ll need the barcode. You can then use this number to pre-book your second theme park visit at no cost, and simply bring your booking confirmation along on the day to gain entry. You have until May 15 to complete both theme park visits, reports the Mirror.

Young children will be thrilled by an Easter visit to Alton Towers, where a spectacular new attraction has just opened in CBeebies Land. Bluey the Ride: Here Come The Grannies! is inspired by the Australian television series that has become a massive favourite amongst pre-schoolers, with the Heeler family also set to appear in live shows and meet and greet sessions.

CBeebies Land is equally home to beloved characters ranging from Hey Duggee to the Octonauts, featuring numerous vibrant, family-friendly rides, while older children and teenagers will relish the array of adrenaline-pumping attractions such as the Smiler, boasting 14 loops, through to the formidable Nemesis Reborn.

For a second visit, returning to Alton Towers may well be a good choice, should you fail to squeeze every ride into a single day. That said, it’s certainly worth exploring the various alternatives available for your complimentary ticket.

Thorpe Park is a superb destination for parents of older children and teenagers, given its emphasis on high-octane rides and exhilarating rollercoasters. In 2024, it unveiled Hyperia, the UK’s tallest and fastest rollercoaster, standing at 236 ft and reaching speeds exceeding 80 mph.

For more leisurely rides and wholesome family entertainment, LEGOLAND® is a fantastic choice. Younger children are particularly well catered for with attractions such as the LEGO Driving School, alongside rollercoasters and more ambitious rides for older youngsters. And let’s face it, who can resist the appeal of LEGO? There are countless opportunities to unleash your creativity with those iconic colourful bricks.

Chessington boasts a wealth of exciting themed attractions, including Mandrill Mayhem, inspired by Jumanji, and the thrilling Croc Drop. Families with young Julia Donaldson enthusiasts will also delight in The Gruffalo River Ride Adventure, as well as the chance to step inside Room on the Broom – A Magical Journey, where the beloved tale is brought vividly to life.

Should you be on the hunt for additional great days out beyond Merlin attractions, discounted theme park tickets can be found on Wowcher, featuring the likes of Flamingo Land and Gulliver’s theme parks. Meanwhile, AttractionTix also provides a broad selection of UK theme park deals.
