Brits could experience the hottest day of the year so far as early as next week, despite Storm Dave unleashing rain and strong winds on much of the country over the Easter weekend. The national weather agency issued several yellow weather warnings for wind, as well as one alert for rain and snow for Scotland, across the Easter weekend, covering North Wales, Northern Ireland, northern England and Scotland.
Storm Dave could bring wind speeds of up to 90mph, the Met Office said, while mountains in Scotland may see 20cm of snow. Thankfully, however, it appears that weather conditions will be improving for many Brits heading into next week.

Met Office maps on Saturday morning, April 4, suggest that temperatures could climb in southern areas of England to 19C on Tuesday and hit 21C on Wednesday (April 7 and 8). This forecast would make southern areas hotter than the current 2026 record. On March 18, a 20.9C temperature was recorded in Gogerddan near Aberystwyth.
This temperature would also make the UK warmer than Ibiza, Spain, where tourists are only expected to see 17C and 18C on Tuesday and Wednesday respectively, the Mirror reports.
Separately, temperature anomaly maps generated by WXCHARTS on April 4 using Met Desk data further suggest a warm surge is on its way. The ECMWF weather model shows areas of deep red across England and Wales on Wednesday, indicating where temperatures may rise well above the seasonal average.
And a Max Temperature chart suggests temperatures may climb to highs of 23C by 6pm on Wednesday.
BBC forecasters are also predicting sunny skies and warm conditions next week.

They say: “Easing winds on Monday which will see plenty of sunshine and a few areas of patchy cloud, most likely in the afternoon. Tuesday and Wednesday will see breezier and warmer conditions with plenty of sunshine expected.”
Looking further ahead, the Met Office said the country could see more “short-lived warm spells” this month. However, there is also a risk of further “wintry showers”.
The Met Office’s long-range forecast looking at the dates between April 8 and April 17 read: “Rather changeable conditions are expected through this period, as Atlantic frontal systems track eastwards across the UK, accompanied by some strong winds at times.
“These will bring occasional spells of rain or showers, heaviest and most frequent in the west and northwest, with longer drier interludes likely in the south and sheltered eastern areas.
“Whilst temperatures will be close to average for the period as a whole, there may be opportunities for some short-lived warm spells in the south and east. Conversely, occasional colder interludes in the northwest will bring the chance of some wintry showers, especially to hills, and overnight frost.”
