Melania Trump raised eyebrows as she bizarrely stormed away from the podium after delivering an address on Jeffrey Epstein.

The First Lady spoke from the White House as she addressed rumours she was “friends” with Epstein, making her stance clear as she claimed “I have never been friends with Epstein.”

She explained herself further, adding, “I am not Epstein’s victim, Epstein did not introduce me to Donald Trump,” as she emphasised that she had met the president organically when they began dating.

Following her statement, Melania, 55, did not close her speech and simply turned her back and stormed away from the podium as the doors slammed shut behind her. The statement comes after speculation over the depth of her involvement with Epstein and his ex-girlfriend and business associate Ghislaine Maxwell.

Melania said in her address that she objects to “mean spirited attemps to defame” her reputation as she gave her explanation as to why her name is featured in the Epstein files due to an email exchange between her and Maxwell.

She also urged people to “be cautious about what you believe” while citing “numerous fake images and stories” that have circulated about her online, while stressing that she “never had any knowledge of Epstein’s abuse of his victims,” and was “not involved in any capacity.”

Melania also urged, “now is the time for congress to act, Epstein was not alone, several prominent male executives resigned from their powerful positions after this matter became widely politicised.

“Of course this doesn’t amount to guilt, but we still must work openly and transparently to uncover the truth.”

She also called upon Congress to provide Epstein’s victims with a “public hearing” to ensure that “each and every woman should have her day to tell her story in public if she wishes.”

Melania said towards the end of her statement, “then and only then will we have the truth,” before she promptly departed the podium, disregarding questions being shouted at her from members of the press in attendance.

Melania addressed social media rumours surrounding how she met President Trump, stating, “I met my husband by chance at the New York City Party in 1998. This initial encounter with my husband is detailed in my book, Melania.”

Melania also described her first encounter with Epstein at a party. She insisted she had never been a “participant” in any of Epstein’s crimes, never been “on his plane,” and had “never visited his private island.”

The First Lady also stated that she has “never been legally accused or convicted of a crime in connection with Epstein’s sex trafficking, abuse of minors and other repulsive behaviour. “

She went on to say, “The false smears about me from mean spirited and politically motivated individuals and entities looking to cause damage to my good name to gain financially and climb politically must stop.”
