Morbid Stardew Valley with 84-rating is free to download and keep if you hurry | Gaming | Entertainment

If you’re looking for something new to play this weekend but don’t want to spend any money, then you’re in luck, because Valve is giving away a new game for Steam users. For a limited time only, Graveyard Keeper is available as a free download on Steam. Described as a morbid and dark alternative to Stardew Valley, Graveyard Keeper sees players build and manage a medieval graveyard. While it doesn’t quite have the same cache as Stardew Valley, Graveyard Keeper certainly has its fans, earning a ‘Very Positive’ 84% rating with Steam users.

It’s worth pointing out that Graveyard Keeper is only available as a free download for a limited time, so you’d better hurry if you want to nab this bargain.

According to Valve, Graveyard Keeper is available for free until 6pm BST UK time on April 13.

Once you’ve added it to your library, the game is yours to download and keep, no strings attached.

The only caveat is that Graveyard Keeper is free “while stocks last”, although it’s unclear what this means.

Likewise, games granted for free during promotional periods won’t drop Steam Trading Cards.

In addition to running a graveyard, Graveyard Keeper challenges players to find other revenue streams, like providing burger meat for in-game festivals using all of the resources to hand.

“Graveyard Keeper is the most inaccurate medieval cemetery management sim of all time,” reads the official description.

“Build and manage your own graveyard, and expand into other ventures, while finding shortcuts to cut costs. Use all the resources you can find.

“After all, this is a game about the spirit of capitalism, and doing whatever it takes to build a thriving business. And it’s also a love story.”

Players can also embark on actual quests, or take a trip to the nearby dungeons where more resources are available to discover.

A sequel is pencilled in to release later this year, making this the perfect time to check out the original.
