Prince Harry left Palace aides speechless with ‘desperate’ move | Royal | News
On May 2, 2025, Harry expressed his wish to reconcile with his estranged royal relatives, while he also spoke about his father, the King’s health.
Charles was diagnosed with a type of cancer in 2024 and has been receiving treatment for it ever since.
In the BBC interview, Harry said the King “won’t speak to me because of this security stuff”, but added he did not want to fight any more as he did “not know how much longer my father has”.
But his comments sparked unease among royal circles, with one senior royal court member labelling him as “deluded and desperate” for thinking that talking about his family woes on TV could prompt peace between the two sides.
Another royal source said: “Harry has simply lost touch with reality. The man doesn’t get the message.
“This TV moment shows his desperation and refusal to accept any responsibility for attacks on the royals, attempts to undermine the institution and vicious claims about racism and bullying.
“One of Charles’ team labelled him ‘deluded’ for thinking a media interview, quite clearly poking at his father and brother, could force any talks.”
Since then, aides on both sides have made some efforts toward a possible path to peace talks between Harry and his father.
