The A12 has been shut near Colchester in Essex after an incident, as drivers are met with long delays.

Essex Police have told The Express they are at the scene of an incident involving concerns for the safety and wellbeing of a woman on a bridge over the A12.

Officers are trying to “resolve this situation as quickly and safely as possible”.

National Highways has said the closure on the southbound carriageway is now from junction 29 to 27.
