The A2 is currently closed westbound following a crash, causing long delays in the area and on the M25.

In a travel alert on its website, National Highways said the “A2 westbound is closed in Kent due to an collision resulting in an overturned car”.

The government-owned company which operates, maintains and improves motorways and major A roads in England said all Kent emergency services are on the scene, and National Highway’s traffic officers are assisting with road closures.

Kent Fire Service has requested a full closure over concerns about an electric vehicle involved, the firm says.

It’s not yet clear how many vehicles were involved or the condition of anyone involved.

The fire and rescue service has been approached for comment via email.
