‘Absolute classic’ Christmas film is streaming for free | Films | Entertainment
A “perfect” Christmas film that brings fans to “tears every time” is ready to stream for free.
Over the past few years, there have been more new Christmas films than ever, from Netflix originals to Oscar-Award winning new favourites.
But there’s nothing quite like the old-fashioned films including Miracle on 34th Street, It’s A Wonderful Life and the various versions of A Christmas Carol.
One in particular that stands out among the rest is a romantic Christmas musical which sees two Second World War veterans become a famous singing and dancing duo.
They team up with a sister act to try and save a failing Vermont inn run by their former commanding general by putting on a Christmas spectacular at his struggling business.
The 1954 heartwarming musical White Christmas stars iconic crooner and actor Bing Crosby as Bob Wallace and Hans Christian Andersen legend Danny Kaye as Phil Davis.
They are joined by the Haynes Sisters, Judy and Betty, brought to life by the unforgettable dancer Vera Ellen and George Clooney’s aunt Rosemary Clooney, respectively.
As viewers get well and truly settled into this year’s festivities, White Christmas is ready to watch for free via BBC’s streaming service BBC iPlayer.
Taking to Rotten Tomatoes and IMDb, fans cannot help but praise the iconic festive film.
“This is an absolute classic!” someone exclaimed before writing: “It’s free of sappy writing, cheesy acting, or any cornball spiel you’d get from Hallmark.
“It has a great plot, an amazingly talented cast and when you watch it you can’t help but feel that old nostalgia from childhood. Movies could learn a lot from this gem! A classic with catchy songs.”
A second echoed: “Transports you to a different time in such a wonderful way. My absolute favorite. I can watch all year long!”
Another labelled White Christmas as “a classic Christmas film for all ages”, while someone else described it as “Christmas magic”.
Meanwhile, a fellow fan stated it was “the classic Christmas movie of all time”.
They continued: “This is one of the most underrated Christmas movies I think.
“It has classic songs, actors, and plot. I think this movie should be religiously watched every Christmas.”
White Christmas is available on BBC iPlayer.
