Arsenal learn Ben White injury timeline as Mikel Arteta handed major setback | Football | Sport

Ben White is set to be out of action for at least a month after suffering a hamstring injury in Arsenal’s match against Wolves. The defender underwent a scan on Sunday, with Mikel Arteta being informed that he will be without his right-back for around four to five weeks. It comes as a major blow to the Gunners, who are already dealing with a thinning defence due to injuries to key players

Cristhian Mosquera is expected to be sidelined until mid-January after an awkward fall during the game against Brentford earlier this month, and was seen wearing a protective boot at the Emirates on Saturday. Gabriel is also anticipated to be out until late December due to a muscular injury.

However, there was some good news as William Saliba returned to action over the weekend after missing several games due to an ankle injury.

Arteta’s woes aren’t limited to his defence, though. Kai Havertz has been absent for most of the season due to a knee injury and isn’t expected back until later this month.

Meanwhile, young star Max Dowman recently suffered an ankle ligament injury which is expected to keep him out for several months.

Riccardo Calafiori also sat out the Wolves game after accumulating five yellow cards in Arsenal’s first 15 matches.

White had been in the starting line-up for the last three Premier League games before being substituted for Myles Lewis-Skelly early in Saturday’s drama-filled match against Wolves.

Arsenal broke the deadlock against the struggling Midlands team 70 minutes into the game, courtesy of an own goal by Sam Johnstone.

Despite Tolu Arokodare equalising in the 90th minute, bottom side Wolves were denied a point against the current Premier League leaders.

In a cruel twist of fate, Yerson Mosquera also scored an own goal deep into stoppage time, handing the Gunners all three points at the Emirates Stadium.

As it stands, Arsenal are just two points ahead of Manchester City at the top of the table.

However, with a tough encounter against Everton at Hill Dickinson Stadium scheduled for Saturday, December 20, Arteta will need to reshuffle his squad given the current injury situation.
