BA cancels flights to Cyprus as Middle East crisis continues | Travel News | Travel

British Airways has cancelled all flights from the UK to Cyprus today after an RAF base was hit by drone strikes on the island. The airline cancelled one flight from London Gatwick this morning and two from Heathrow airport, due to depart at 11.40am and 5.10pm. Customers travelling to Larnaca can rebook their flights free of charge.

A BA spokesperson told The Express: “We are closely monitoring the situation and have cancelled a number of flights to the Middle East. We understand it is a difficult time for customers in affected destinations and we are in contact with them to offer reassurance and support. Safety is our top priority and we will only operate a flight if it is safe to do so.”

The airline has advised customers to check their flight status on BA.com before travelling to the airport due to the evolving situation.

British Airways also operates a route from London to Paphos Airport, which runs on Wednesdays and Saturdays in March. This week’s flights are still due to run at present.

Hermes Airports, which operates both airports in Cyprus, confirmed that several flights are being affected on the island due to the “current developments in the Middle East”.

Customers who are due to travel between London Heathrow and these destinations in the coming days will have the option to change their flights for free or receive a refund.
