Baby seriously injured in hit-and-run crash on major motorway | UK | News

A baby has been seriously injured after a van collided with three stationary vehicles in a horror hit-and-run crash on a major UK motorway. Police are appealing for witnesses and footage following the crash on Junction 29 slip road off the M6 northbound, at Bamber Bridge.

Officers were called at 4:25pm on Friday, February 13 following reports a White Ford Transit van collided with three stationary vehicles (a HGV and two cars). A baby, a passenger in one of the cars, has been taken to hospital with serious injuries where she remains at this time. The driver and passenger of the Ford Transit Van made off at the scene, and enquiries are ongoing to find them. Police believe they both have serious injuries and are concerned for their welfare. Sergeant Ben Elliot of the roads policing unit said: “A baby has been left seriously injured following this collision and our thoughts remain with her and her loved ones at this time.

“Extensive enquiries are ongoing to locate two men, the driver and passenger of the White Ford Transit van, and I can reassure you were are doing everything possible to find them.

“We are particularly concerned for them as we believe they sustained serious injuries in the collision, and strongly encourage them to come forward to us.

“I am appealing directly to you, the public, for your assistance. If you have dashcam or CCTV footage of the collision, please do get in touch with us.

“We are also aware that there may be people who witnessed the collision that we haven’t yet spoken to. If this is you, or if you know someone who was travelling on that road at the time, please let us know.”
