‘Best and most magical’ Christmas market is ‘hidden gem’ in the UK | UK | Travel

While it’s only October, there’s no harm in getting a head start on planning your Christmas market trips this year. Given the crowds they attract and the need for advance booking at some, early organisation is definitely a smart move.

One Christmas fan has shared her “favourite Christmas market”, describing it as “so incredible” and considering it to be quite a “hidden gem”. She confesses she was initially “a bit reluctant” to reveal her find, but ultimately decided it was “too good” to keep to herself.

Soraya regularly showcases the best dining, drinking, accommodation and exploration opportunities across the Peak District.

In a TikTok post, Soraya shared footage from her visit to Haddon Hall Christmas Market last year. Haddon Hall is a historic country house located near the River Wye close to Bakewell in Derbyshire.

The estate boasts over 900 years of history, with Medieval and Elizabethan architectural features.

Expressing her love for the venue, Soraya stated: “It’s the most beautiful, magical Christmas market you’ll go to.”

During her visits, the digital content creator always indulges in mulled wine before heading to the “spectacular courtyard”. However, there are numerous “stunning” stalls situated throughout both the inside and outside areas of the hall.

She went on to explain how the hall possesses a remarkable history, whilst simultaneously acting as a setting for countless film productions.

The hall’s roots can be traced back to the 11th century, positioning it among Britain’s oldest homes.

Film lovers might recall it from movies such as The Princess Bride (1986), Jane Eyre (1994), Pride and Prejudice (2004), Mary Queen of Scots (2018) and The King (2019).

Going further, Soraya commended the decorations as “always stunning”, especially spotlighting the Christmas tree where guests can write and hang their wishes.

“And the place is full of products that you’ll actually want to buy,” she added.

Additionally, the hall offers “some of the best views in the Peak District and the food offering is always amazing”.

Many visitors showed enthusiasm to visit this year’s festivities.

One person commented: “I live not far from it and I have never been!” whilst another wrote: “Thank you for sharing. I contemplated going last year and missed it. Been seeing the advert for it recently and I’m thinking of booking it.”

Others agreed about how good it is.

One guest gushed: “We absolutely LOVE Haddon Hall Christmas Market. Hands down the best around!” with another stating: “Best Christmas market by far.”
