Best days to book flights in 2025 to save up to £500 named by expert | Travel News | Travel
With the weather looking gloomy and cold for the remainder of January, many Brits are finding solace in potential travel plans to escape the winter blues.
However, it’s important to book holidays strategically if you want to make the most of your money.
According to experts at Netflights, the best month to lock in those tickets is currently coming to an end, as January offers major savings on flight prices.
Amanda Parker from Netflights explained: “January is the cheapest month of the year to book a holiday, with every airline and hotel under the sun having a sale.”
For those looking to save big, January is the perfect time to plan ahead, with flight prices to destinations like Las Vegas or San Francisco starting at just £449, and flights to Calgary going for under £349—up to £500 less than peak-season fares.
“Prices will only increase throughout the year, so we advise booking flights in January to save money,” she added.
Booking early is just one part of the puzzle—picking the right time to fly can unlock even more savings.
According to the online travel company, mid-week flights are often the best option for saving money.
“Our data shows that flying on Tuesdays and Wednesdays offers the best prices,” highlighted Amanda.
These days tend to have less demand, so you could score a great deal, especially on popular routes.
If you’re open to unconventional hours, evening or overnight flights could also be cheaper, with Amanda urging: “Don’t be afraid of flying at some really awkward times too.”
These late or early flights tend to cost less since people generally prefer to travel during the day. So, being flexible with flight times can really pay off.
And if you’re not superstitious, you might just get lucky, as Amanda shared that “flying on the 13th of the month – especially a if it’s a Friday,” is often cheaper.
This is because many travellers avoid these dates due to superstitions, leaving seats open for savvy bookers to snag a bargain.
