‘Brilliant’ modern thriller ‘perfect for Hitchcock fans’ is streaming | TV & Radio | Showbiz & TV

A modern-day “Hitchcock style” film that’s been branded an “insidious adrenaline rush” is ready to watch.

Psychological thriller Drop follows widowed mum Violet (played by Meghann Fahy) who goes to a fancy restaurant for a date with Henry (Brandon Sklenar).

Things quickly go down a horrific path though when Violet starts receiving messages from a mysterious hooded figure threatening to kill her son and sister if she doesn’t murder Henry.

But will Violet and Henry be able to find out what’s really going on before it’s too late or will she be left with no choice but to kill her date?

Drop, which came out earlier this year in cinemas, is now available to watch on Sky Cinema and stream on NOW.

At Drop’s epicentre is actress Meghann Fahy who rose to fame as Sutton Brady in the five-season drama The Bold Type.

When the series came to an end in 2021, it didn’t take her too long before Fahy won the role of Daphne Sullivan in the second series of The White Lotus.

She has since also been in the film Rebuilding, as well as Sirens and The Perfect Couple on Netflix.

Fahy is joined onscreen by Henry actor Brandon Sklenar who is famed for playing Spencer Dutton in the Yellowstone spin-off 1923.

Some of his other memorable parts have been in Westworld, The Offer and romantic drama It Ends With Us opposite Gossip Girl star Blake Lively.

Scoring an impressive 83% on review aggregator Rotten Tomatoes, one fan labelling Drop as a “nerve-wracking survival thriller”.

“It’s a great thriller that puts a traumatized woman between a rock and a hard place, a sky-high trap that she can’t hope to escape,” a user wrote.

Another described: “Drop is an insidious adrenaline rush and thrilling whodunit is exhilarating from start to finish”, as a third commented that it’s a “brilliant” set up with “fantastic pay-off”.

Someone else said fans should “drop into this thriller for Hitchcock-ian suspense”, as a fellow viewer said: “Drop is a dark date-night rollercoaster that lands somewhere between a tech-age horror thriller and a rom-com from hell, with surprisingly emotional results.”

Drop is now available to watch on Sky Cinema and NOW.
