Britain’s best saltwater pool named and it’s a beautiful seaside oasis | UK | Travel

The best saltwater pool in the UK has been named and it is a popular tourist spot. The Trevone Sea Pool in Cornwall has been crowned as Britain’s best saltwater and tidal pool, The Times reports. It is located just to the West of Padstow on Cornwall’s North Coast. It is renowned for its beautiful seaside oasis and unique geological features, including its natural swimming pool.

The pool is cut into the rocks and gets filled by the sea at mid tide, giving it a feeling of being placed at the edge of the world. It offers a view of the Atlantic while swimming in a spot that has an abundance of history and imagination.

The pool was notably featured in a BBC adaptation of Enid Blyton’s Malory Towers. Locals still refer to it as Tinker Bunny’s Bathing Pool. There is also a wood-fired saunca on the beach nearby for days with a bit of a chill.

The best time to visit the pool is while the tide is accessible for a few hours on either side of low tide. The pool is extremely popular during summer months due to it being very visible from the path, lots of tourists come to explore it alongside local families. The winter time allows for a much quieter swim but you have to check timings as it is quite exposed to the Atlantic swells and large waves crashing beyond the walls.

This pool is not only a recreational asset but also plays an important role in supporting local marine ecosystems. Its rocky shoreline, rockpools and tidal pools provide habitat for a variety of marine life, including fish, crab, and sea anemones.

The natural swimming pool at Trevone Bay is accessible to swimmers of all ages and abilities, but accessing the pool does require making your way across rocks that can sometimes be slippery so be aware of this when making your way down.
