Porthminster Beach in Cornwall was crowned the UK’s most relaxing beach with over 1,200 “excellent” reviews on Tripadvisor.

Located right next to St Ives train station, Porthminister beach is just five minutes from the town centre.

A tourist ‘Ian B’ wrote on Tripadvisor: “Beautiful. Nice and quiet. Great to walk along in the sunshine. A stunning beach and a must go.”

However, tourists may want to move quickly if they want to enjoy St Ives without paying a tourist tax.

The popular Cornish town is discussing introducing a tax to help pay for essential infrastructure.

The town’s mayor, Johnnie Wells, told the BBC, it was becoming “harder and harder” to maintain the town’s facilities with the number of visitors.
