The boys have been identified as William Drake, 15, rider, and Adrian Lai, 14 by Nine News.
Both received treatment from paramedics but tragically died at the scene.
The bus driver – a 48 year old man – was unhurt and transported to hospital for mandatory testing. The passengers on board at the time were also unharmed.
One witness said: “I saw this little kid get hit by a big bus, we were just going through. We saw the bus doing a [U-turn], and this guy went straight under the bus.”
Following the collision on the notorious road for accidents, local schoolchildren and residents left tributes and paid their respects.
Fairfield City Council Mayor, Frank Carbone, told local media that the community is “very sad… We feel terrible and distraught”.
“This is an unfortunate accident that’s happened. These are members of our community so it’s broken our heart,” he told Sunrise. “I’m going (through) a bit of mixed emotions, obviously because we’ve lost two young kids and I feel for the bus driver as well and the passengers.
“But also I’m a little bit upset and angry because we have highlighted this issue to the New South Wales government before.”
A crime scene remains established at the T-way whilst police conduct their investigation.
