Busy UK route to be shut for ‘several hours’ after crash | UK | News
A serious crash has taken place on a busy UK road with fire, police and ambulance crews all called to the scene – and the route set to be shut ‘for several hours’.
The A19 in Tyne and Wear is closed in both directions between the A1018/B1404 near Seaham and the A690 near New Herrington due to the crash.
The incident happened around 11.30pm on Monday, November 24 and Durham Police, the ambulance service and fire and rescue along with National Highways Traffic Officers were in attendance.
National Highways report that the full closure is expected to be in place for several hours as collision investigation work will be taking place. Once complete recovery and clear-up work will take place.
There is no traffic within the closures with the exception of some Heavy Goods Vehicles which are unable to turn around. Diversions are in place both north and southbound.
