Calanques National Park in France is an incredible place for nature lovers to visit and is only a few hours away from the UK.

The park is located in the south of France, just 30 minutes away from Marseille. It is best to fly to Marseille which is only a two-hour flight from London.

Home to a variety of wildlife and incredible views, the park is a popular spot among visitors but is so big that you’ll feel you are the only one there at times.

You’ll have the opportunity to experience a national park which has inland and coastal nature – a rare and unique feature of this park.

Next to the park, you’ll find the small fishing village of Cassis which is on the western edge of the French Riviera. 

Inside the park, which attracts thousands of visitors each year, there is the opportunity to hike along cliffside trails, take part in water sports and see perfect turquoise blue waters as you look out towards the ocean.

Not only this but there are several major cities located nearby so if you have some time, you can make a trip out of visiting these famous south of France spots.

Several islands off the coast have also been named as part of the park which form an incredible archipelago. 

For those interested in marine life, there are a range of species which can be found on the beaches of the park such as starfish and even dolphins.

Entry to the park is free but it’s important for visitors to follow the rules and regulations enforced to protect the wildlife and nature in the area.

There are a number of hiking trails you can take to explore the area depending on how much time you have and how much of a challenging hike you want to take. To have the best experience, make sure you are prepared with essentials such as good hiking shoes, suncream, water and food.
