Can you evolve Pokémon in Pokopia? What players need to know | Gaming | Entertainment
Evolving Pokemon has always been a staple mechanic in previous games in the series – but is it possible to do in Pokopia?
Pokemon Pokopia follows a very different formula to the games that came before it, tasking players with attracting the adorable monsters to an island by creating habitats. Oh, and there’s no battling to be found, either.
With no need to pit the Pocket Monsters against each other, there’s no real need to evolve the Pokemon to learn new attacks or skills. Here’s what you need to know about evolving Pokemon in Pokopia.
Can Pokemon evolve in Pokopia?
As you might have suspected, Pokemon cannot evolve in the latest Pokopia game.
However, that doesn’t mean that evolved versions of Pokemon aren’t in the game. Quite the opposite, in fact.
For example, you could attract a Charmander to your island to start with. Although you can’t evolve that Charmander into a Charmeleon, you can attract a Charmeleon and Charizard in addition to your original Charmander.
It’s a wildly different way to how Pokemon has operated in the past, but the same can be said for a lot of mechanics in Pokopia. After all, it takes more inspiration from the likes of Animal Crossing than it does traditional Pokemon games.
So far, there are 300 different Pokemon available in the game – but the list is expanding as more get added via limited time events.
