Carlos Alcaraz has been spending time with Andy Murray and Tim Henman ahead of his Wimbledon title defence. The world No.2 is hoping to complete a hat-trick at the All England Club this fortnight by lifting the trophy for the third year running. Before heading to SW19, Alcaraz joined Murray, Henman, Alex de Minaur and Lleyton Hewitt for a Wimbledon golf day.

“I played some golf. Actually, I play with Andy Murray on Monday and a few more players,” the five-time Grand Slam champion said of his days off. Just wanted to go to the centre a little bit, walk around, have good food, and just having quality time with them doing some stuff that probably I wouldn’t be able to do while the tournament is on.”

Alcaraz, 22, has already played himself into form by winning Queen’s. But he’s not thinking about completing a three-peat at Wimbledon.

He added: “I’m coming here thinking that, I really want to win the title. I really want to lift the trophy. Not thinking about how many players have done it, winning three Wimbledons in a row.

“I just want to be ready and just want to prepare myself in the best way possible, just to start the tournament with a lot of confidence. Obviously I feel a lot of confidence right now.

“Two weeks could be really long on a Grand Slam, but right now I’m not thinking about who I could join if I win three Wimbledons in a row.”

Murray himself also gave an insight into the day as he seeks to return to form on the golf course, aiming to return to a handicap of seven.

“It’s not seven any more,” he told The Guardian. “I’m two now. I was a bit better than that, but recently I’ve been struggling. So yeah, my handicap is going in the wrong direction.

“I played with him [Henman] on Monday. Wimbledon had a golf day with some of the players. He played, along with Alcaraz, De Minaur and Lleyton Hewitt. We were in different groups but Tim played very well. He’s really, really good.”

Murray, a two-time Wimbledon champion, is not planning on attending SW19 this year as he has no official job title that permits him to.

Not that the red carpet wouldn’t be rolled out for the Scot, but he does not attend tennis matches as a fan and insists he will only return to the All England Club if a Brit reaches the final or his kids want to visit the grounds.
