Cornwall earthquake LIVE: Homes rocked by loud bangs – ‘felt like a lorry crash’ | UK | News

Cornwall has been rocked by an earthquake as reported by seismologists, with the Mount’s Bay area registering a 2.7 magnitude quake overnight.

Residents in West Cornwall described experiencing “rumbling” and “juddering”, likening it to the impact of a lorry crashing into their homes.

According to the British Geological Survey, the quake occurred at 12.50 am today at a depth of 13km.

Generally, earthquakes with a magnitude of 2.5 or below are not typically felt but can be detected by seismographs. Significant damage to buildings and infrastructure usually occurs when the magnitude surpasses four or five.
