Couple accused of ‘dine and dash spree’ unmasked | UK | News

A married couple have arrived in court after they were charged with pulling off a series of “dine and dash” escapades, leaving a trail of unpaid hefty bills at various restaurants.

Bernard McDonagh, 41, and Ann McDonagh, 39, from Sandfields in Port Talbot, arrived at Swansea Magistrates Court this morning where they face charges linked to dining without paying across South Wales.

Mr McDonagh, dressed in a pink polo shirt and light grey blazer, covered his face with his hands as he walked alongside his wife Mrs McDonagh who pulled her hood up over her head to try and shield her face.

Mrs McDonagh faces five counts of fraud and an additional four counts of theft related to shoplifting incidents, while Mr McDonagh is up against five counts of fraud.

In a bid to catch the culprits, restaurants took to social media, to to identify a mysterious family of eight who indulged in hefty meals and then left without settling the bill.

Over a period of nine months, several eateries experienced the sting of this group, which could number up to eight individuals, as they enjoyed substantial feasts, often doubling up on drinks or desserts, only to leave without paying for their lavish orders
