Couple found ‘semi-naked’ at house in tourism hotspot as police launch probe into deaths | World | News

Police are investigating the deaths of an Irish couple “found semi-naked” at a house on Spain’s Costa Blanca. Officers made the grim discovery just after 10am on December 3 following calls from a concerned neighbour.

The man had suffered a head injury and the woman, who was reportedly still alive when the first help arrived, had wounds to her chest and limbs, according to an initial forensics report. She reportedly died shortly after the arrival of emergency services. The report also suggested the man may have died around a week ago, and described them as being discovered “semi-naked”, local media reports.

The property they were in forms part of the municipality of Torrevieja, south of Alicante.

Local Civil Guard officers have launched an investigation which was ongoing today and are reporting to a court placed in charge of the probe. They have yet to make any official statement.

Neither the man or woman have yet been named and their identities are not expected to be publicly revealed.

It was not immediately clear this morning how old they were and if they lived in the area or were on holiday.

The area where the property is located is popular with tourists.

Along Torrevieja’s 14-kilometre long coastline and surrounding area live over 96,000 people of 122 different nationalities, according to data from the Municipal Register of the City Council dating back to August 2023.

This discovery comes months after, in February, two British pensioners were found dead at a Costa Blanca home.

The bodies of the man and woman were discovered on February 13 at the residential property near the small town of San Fulgencio a 45-minute drive south of Alicante.
